R-Nihs is a 9mm thick decorative calcium silicate board produced by forming and curing a slurry composed of siliceous, calcareous, and fibrous materials, followed by the application of a coating to the calcium silicate board. With its fire retardant properties, it is primarily used as a wall material in commercial environments, including restaurants and retail shops. Additionally, offcuts generated from R-Nihs during construction at various sites across Japan, together with production offcuts from calcium silicate boards including R-Nihs, are collected at intermediate processing facilities and recycled at resource recovery plants as part of the raw materials for cement.
